Before Your Procedure

Patient Instructions: Day Before Your Procedure

  • Do not eat or drink anytime after midnight. This includes candy, water, coffee, and gum. If you eat or drink anything, YOUR PROCEDURE WILL BE CANCELLED AND RESCHEDULED. If medications need to be taken, contact your physician to ask whether or not they should be omitted.
  • Arrange for someone to accompany and stay with you after being discharged or your procedure will be canceled and rescheduled. You will not be permitted to leave alone after receiving anesthesia or sedation. Parents MUST stay at the surgery center the entire time their child is in surgery.
  • If you have an infection, fever, or noticeable change in your health since your last office visit, inform you doctor immediately.
  • Do not smoke or use tobacco products after midnight prior to your surgery.
  • Bring a list of all your medications. Tell the nurse if you are taking aspirin or any blood thinners.
  • Please leave all jewelry and valuables at home.
  • Please wear simple, loose-fitting clothes. Do not use lotion, powder, or perfume the morning of surgery.
  • Remove all make up, false eyelashes and colored nail polish.
